Ther racism hidden in the seasonal work of Spain
About 5,000 seasonal workers live in self-built shacks made with woods and plastics on the outskirts of Almeria and San Isidro de Níjar. Without running water and in a permanent irregular situation, their future prospects focus on regularizing their legal situation after the three years of residence dictated by Spanish legislation.

The remnants of ISIS
Despite its defeat in 2017, the Islamic State remained alive. More than 8,000 former ISIS members resided in the Al-Hol camp, among its nearly 53,000 residents. Several active jihadist cells continued to perpetrate attacks and torture. Inside its perimeter, the caliphate remained alive, implementing its radical Islamic morality.

Blood dripping in the West Bank
In January 2022, a deadly Israeli military raid in the Jenin refugee camp killed nine Palestinians, making it one of the deadliest incidents in the West Bank in recent years. The fallen were mourned by thousands of residents who took to the streets to proclaim honor and revenge.

2022 | In southwest Islamabad, lies an Afghan refugee camp, established in the 1990s. The camp not only houses homeless people from northwestern Pakistan but also refugees who fled the continuous war in Afghanistan. Nowadays, the camp is mostly inhabited by children and a few women as the labor force has gone out to work.
Across the Balkans: Migrants seeking entry to the EU
2020 | Asylum-seekers come to Bosnia with the aim of reaching neighboring EU nation Croatia, from where they can move on towards Western Europe. To do so, migrants often use hidden mountain routes in the northwest of the country, avoiding police presence.

Migrants stuck in Spain say camps are unfit
2021 | Spain is being criticized for the poor living conditions in migrant camps on the Canary Islands. More than 23,000 people arrived from Morocco and West Africa in 2020 and have been staying in crowded and cold tents. The EU-funded Las Raices camp, the largest of them, is facing several problems, and some residents have even moved to shacks in a nearby forest.

As borders within the EU become stricter, some who entered Europe through the Balkans have no choice but to take this dangerous route. 2019 | In October 2019, a judicial ruling was issued regarding the Catalan independence process, resulting in the conviction of political and social leaders involved in the 2017 Self-determination Referendum to 100 years of imprisonment. This verdict sparked widespread protest and revolt throughout Catalonia, with people participating in various forms of demonstrations for a week.

2023 | France has recently experienced one of its most mobilized weeks in years, with protests sparked by the imposition of a pension reform that increases the retirement age from 62 to 64. Unions across the country have called for general strikes and periodic demonstrations, which have often resulted in violent riots and direct clashes with the gendarmerie.

Maite stays
2020 | Maite Mendivil, a 58-year-old resident of La Rambla, Barcelona, has lived in a 50-square-meter apartment on the fourth floor without an elevator since the 1980s. Due to an alleged unpaid rent of 300 euros, Maite faced an eviction. However, when the police arrived to carry out the eviction, a group of neighbors confronted them to avoid Maite's expulsion. Despite the pandemic, in 2020 there were approximately 20 evictions per day in the city of Barcelona.
